Why culture and identity are important

I think Culture and Identity are Important because it represents who you are. We all have a right to know who we are, and where we are from. Sometimes people don’t even like their culture and think that it’s useless but cultures and identity have big meanings. Even though you are in another country you still have other cultural roots.

 

Cultural celebrations

Cultures also  have  different celebrations native to them like chinese new Year is from china, white sunday from American Samoa, Tokelau, Tonga and diwali from outside india like Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists then New Zealand celebrates lots of different things like easter, matariki, christmas and all kinds of stuff. 

 

Different culture foods

Different cultures have different food like Chimichurri in Argentina and Ko Pai in Samoa and Chow Mein from China. Some people that come from different countries think that their food looks gross and judge them by the way they look without tasting them.

 

Different animals 

In Spain there is an animal called a iberian lynx. In America there is a red wolf but it just looks like half wolf, half fox. They are only found near south america and they are listed on the rarest animals in the world but they are the world’s most threatening animal. In Fiji there is a rare animal called a Pacific flying fox. It is half monkey but more like a bat just bigger than a regular bat.  In Tonga there is an animal called a pygmy killer whale. It looks like a dolphin but just really grew. They are found in very deep areas where it is warm , tropical and subtropic. 

 

The best bird in history

On a Wednesday evening it was my birthday. I turned 10 and then My big brother got me a pet bird. I named her Jess. She is a tui a native bird. A few months later I got a email from big, blue, bethany and bob’s bird competition Jess looked at me I looked at her and I agreed she was flocking around happily the only thing was the competition is due tomorrow I was getting a little stress so I told my mom if she could help me to train Jess for the competition.

The next day

I woke up and got myself ready and then woke up Jess and got her ready. I brushed some of the small strands of hair on Jess and made sure she remembers all the practicing we did. We were going to the car until my mom said it is very far so I was feeding her in case she might be hungry in the middle of the competition. Minutes later we were kind of stuck in a little traffic but Mom said we would get there in 5 minutes. Later we arrived and so Mom said she would be sitting and cheering me on. Jess and I were signing up as the Terrific Taco Tui Team. Later it was almost me and Jesse’s turn. There she went she went though the rings flew as fast as 60 cheetahs she was almost to the finish line until this boy cheated and threw a little hard ball at her wing but the judges gave her a solid 10 they didn’t care if she fell or didn’t get it to the finish line but they cared that she did her best. Me and Jess had a rest but also had a golden trophy for her. She was so impressed with herself.

Room 12 made some Matariki faces on pieces of cardboard.  I drew Tupu-a-Rangi on paper then drew it on the cardboard. after drawing Tupu-a-Rangi I carved it with a little machine then I got a vivid and outlined it.

Today I did a Matariki poem it is different then the other one I did it becuase it was for TeamTui Assembly

This activity is for cybersmart we had to have buddies so I has 2 buddies we played tic tac toe and wrote a story  we did 1 word and created a full story
